Mind, Body, Soul Reset: 2019 Guide to Inner Balance

reset your mind body and soul

Everyone hits that point where it feels like they need to reevaluate their life and get a fresh start. Perhaps you’ve hit a block with a project for work or school, or maybe you’re feeling unenergized and unmotivated in general, but something has made you realize that it’s time to reset your mind, body, and soul.

And that is okay!

Everyone reaches this point now and then, and the only way to fix it is to give it its due attention and put in the work.

Why reset your mind, body, and soul?

Making sure you stay on top of your mental, physical, and deeper needs is absolutely vital in maintaining overall happiness.

Plus, oftentimes, all of these things are intertwined. The way you fuel and care for your body is a big part of taking care of your mind and soul, and it works in reverse as well.

The only way to make sure you are perfectly taken care is to pay attention to all three of these areas and do a regular, healthy reset to make sure they are being tended to properly.

Once you tackle this and give your mind, body, and soul what they need, you will undoubtedly feel rejuvenated and ready to take on everything in your life that previously felt out of reach.

Here are ten excellent ways to get started on that total reset!

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

Staying hydrated in general is one of the most important parts of this reset, especially when it comes to starting your mornings off right.

Having a full mug of hot water with lemon in the morning will also help to detox your body and have you feeling better as the day goes on.

The lemon will help to rejuvenate your skin, get rid of bloating, and generally have you feeling more refreshed in the moment and throughout the day.

Aside from that, making sure you always have a water bottle on you will do wonders in helping you keep up with your daily water intake.

Have a self-care session

Scheduling a genuine, productive self-care hour once a week will do wonders in terms of your overall well-being, but you have to make sure it isn’t just binge-watching your favorite show or eating a tub of ice cream to find a happy, indulgent experience.

Your self-care hour should incorporate benefits to your mind, body, and soul. To do this, try to split it up into increments each dedicated to one respective part.

For your body, you could try things like walking, yoga, stretching, or other physically beneficial activities.

Your mind could benefit from some time spent reading a book for pleasure, doing puzzles, meditating, or even journaling to get your thoughts and feelings down.

Lastly, your soul could benefit from more spiritual sources of happiness like reading a self-help book, playing an instrument, or listening to a riveting podcast.

Once you get better at sticking to your hour-long self-care routine, you can incorporate it more often than once a week (maybe even every day) to really see results.

Get fresh air

Setting aside time in your day to get outside and really enjoy fresh air will do wonders when trying to reset your mind, body, and soul.

This time could be taken out of your lunch break or need a moment to get your blood pumping again before returning to a task.

All you really need to keep in mind is that you should spend this time without your phone or other distractions so that you can really appreciate the sun and air on your skin.

Best of all, this is a fantastic environment in which you could meditate or reflect, really healing your mind and soul in particular.

Care for your skin

Making sure you care for your skin can do wonders for staying motivated and energized, particularly in terms of the “body” part of the reset.

Look into developing a skincare routine that genuinely tends to all of the areas your skin needs most.

Ultimately, though, try to remember to exfoliate, moisturize, and remember SPF protection for a good place to start.

Every now and then, you could even incorporate an at-home facial or spa day to really tend to your skin and give it the attention it deserves. Whatever you do, just make sure you consciously care for it.

Reset and declutter your digital life

It’s very easy to get bogged down in social media, popular websites, and everyday apps on your devices.

Try to reevaluate all of these apps, messages, bookmarks, and so on, you may not really use anymore and declutter so that you feel more organized.

You will be amazed at how much weight is lifted off of you when your digital life is reorganized and less congested. It will be easier to find the genuinely important things and will also make everything feel a lot less overwhelming.

Eat more fruits and veggies

Much like hydration, your diet will be a big part of this reset.

Food choices can lead to much more than weight gain, skin problems, or other more obvious physical effects. It could also lead to lethargy and issues with mood, motivation, and energy, so it’s absolutely critical to pay attention to.

Healthy fruit smoothies, salads, veggies as a side to your meals – these are all great ways to make sure you are getting these healthy, natural options in your diet.

When adjusting your diet, it can be easy to get distracted by what you need to cut out, but this is a way to look at it as things that could be added instead.

Organize and freshen up your spaces

This applies to everything from the living spaces where you spend a regular amount of time to desk spaces where you work and try to keep productive.

Keeping these spaces organized and free of unneeded clutter can go a long way in terms of feeling calm and in control of your life.

Especially with areas where you want to maintain productivity, it is critical to make sure you have a clear mind when you are there.

Spend a day this weekend really going through these areas and resetting them. It will feel superficial, but it will be a way to reset your mind, body, and soul at the same time.

Use positive affirmations

They may seem silly at first, but positive affirmations are a big part of reinforcing a positive mindset and approach.

Find words of encouragement that directly address your areas of weakness or insecurity.

You can keep track of these affirmations by recording them or writing them on notecards to read each morning and night.

Things like “I am enough” or “I have everything I need” can go a long way in boosting your morale, even if they just feel like simple words.

Take it one step at a time

Getting overwhelmed by long lists of responsibilities can make it hard to heal and stay focused on what’s important.

Take a moment to breathe before getting started on things and try to focus on one thing at a time.

This will not only make it a lot easier to stay calm and avoid breakdowns, but it will also make it easier to really complete tasks and give your all to them.

If you’re afraid of forgetting something when you do this, make thorough to-do lists and organize them by priorities and levels of importance. For instance, things with deadlines and bigger importance in your life should absolutely be completed first.

Once you have all of that out of the way, figure out which thing should absolutely be completed first and focus on it sincerely. You will get to the other tasks and responsibilities later, but you are no good to any of them if you rush everything at once and waste time on stress.

Go someplace new

This doesn’t need to be an exotic, faraway adventure or vacation. Exploring somewhere new can be as simple as an area in one town over or a park that you’ve never been to before.

You could even switch up a normal route or routine, going a different way to work or stopping by a different coffee shop in the morning.

By breaking up your routine and going somewhere new every now and then, you can really reset yourself and pull yourself out of a slump.

It will offer new experiences and new perspective, and even if it doesn’t seem like that big a deal, it will help you to look at everything with fresh eyes again.

In Summary

Trying to accomplish a total reset in your life can be a difficult goal, especially when you have plenty of regular routines and responsibilities to tend to.

It’s so important to reset your mind, body, and soul if you want to maintain your own happiness and productivity, though, so try to make the time to do this whenever you can.

Besides, you want to be the best you for everyone else in your life, too, and the only way to do that is by starting from within and shooting for that fresh start as soon as possible.
