Thailand Yoga Retreat – Perfect for the Lone Traveller

Thailand Yoga Retreat - Perfect for the Lone Traveller

Big Buddha sits proudly on top of the Nakkerd Hills between Chalon and Kata. Nestled within the foothills is CC’s Hideaway, a beautiful 4-star hotel and Thailand yoga retreat with a pool and an outdoor yoga studio, offering guests a choice of retreat programs to suit all needs, with fantastic views of Phuket and the ocean. CC’s is the perfect destination for the lone traveller looking to do yoga and enjoy what Phuket has to offer.

This Thailand yoga retreat – perfect for the lone traveller!

I’d always wanted to go on a Thailand yoga retreat and after some research, I plumped for CC Hideaways. It was my first time travelling this far alone, so I was a little apprehensive, but CC’s made everything so easy for me. They provide pick up and drop off from the airport, and once at the hotel there’s yoga twice a day, a free shuttle to the beach and back, and a daily program of health or sightseeing excursions to suit everyone. The food is outstanding with so much choice, and there’s a daily fruit smoothie offered too.

There’s a mix of guests at this Thailand yoga retreat – singles, couples, friends, and families and it’s also LGBTQ-friendly too. There are plenty of staff who are all amazingly helpful, friendly and funny, so it’s easy to feel at home -they even know you by name from day one! One of the other guests said it’s just like being part of a big family at CC’s and she’s right as you can’t walk far without one of the staff stopping for a chat and checking how you are.

Yoga

There were two main yoga teachers, Luis and Kendo who are excellent and teach different styles, some flow, hatha, yin, and we even did a bit of Tai Chi. Each class would be an hour of yoga and 20 minutes of meditation teaching which was different each day and included a breathing meditation, a counting meditation and a healing meditation.

Daily retreat and excursion options

The daily retreat options are varied, on one day I chose a deliciously dreamy half day scrub and massage at Oasis Sky Breeze Kata high in the Phuket hills, with jaw-dropping views from each of the treatment rooms. Oasis Sky Breeze Kata provides 5-star service at it’s best. My beautiful masseuse, even re-plaited my hair at the end of the massage which added a special touch to the experience.

One of the highlight excursions was the jungle trek to Big Buddha. Starting right outside the hotel, we walked a hundred yards up the hill, and into the thick of the jungle, with all of its fresh Thai fruit and herbs, and we were able to also taste its edible flowers.

Our guides were some of the wonderful CC’s staff who taught us about jungle life while we were huffing and puffing up the winding 6k hill pathway. There were lots of jokes along the way which helped to take your mind off the heat, and we had in our sights the big white Buddha which continued to progressively get bigger and bigger. Near the top of the hill, we stopped for refreshments at a rustic bar with selfie views across Phuket to drink coconut water and sample fresh Thai fruit before heading to our destination. Once at the temple, we had the opportunity to take more pictures, prey and ask for a monks blessing. Then onto an organic restaurant for a hearty lunch.

The cultural tour on another day took us to a market where and tried fresh Thai fruit, vegetables, sweets and savouries and then onto a traditional dinner at one of the best restaurants in the city with dazzling spectacular views across Phuket.

You’ll make friends quickly at CC’s so do try to get a few people together for a night out in Patong.

I couldn’t have wished for a better first go-solo Thailand yoga retreat. CC’s met all of my expectations and so much more, and the memories will stay with me forever.

If you go to CCs then I’d love to hear from you so let me know what your experience was there and if this review has helped you!

    Hi!

This post was helpful. I have been looking into CC’s hideaway for a yoga retreat. I am a first time solo traveler so am apprehensive about the hotel. Another thing is that I am planning to go in August, and I am wondering what the weather is like there at that time.

I’m so happy you liked my post and thank you for your comment. I’m really not sure about the weather in August but I’m sure if you emailed CC’s they’d let you know what to expect. This hotel is not 5 stars but it’s got everything you need and more. The staff make the place and you won’t feel lonely as you’ll meet people at yoga and while you do the schedule of activities too.
